| Another example of the media blowing something out of perspective: the so-called “debate” within the “Radical Ranks” about the role of women in Jihaad June 1, 2008This news item is spreading like wildfire for some reason. If it wasn’t, we wouldn’t have bothered addressing it since it’s very easy to refute. It’s obvious that the media wants to portray an image of the Mujaahideen disunited; and Alhamdullilaah, this is not the case at all. Here are some portions from this hot item from AP: | Quote: | | Muslim extremist women are challenging al-Qaida’s refusal to include — or at least acknowledge — women in its ranks, in an emotional debate that gives rare insight into the gender conflicts lurking beneath one of the strictest strains of Islam. |
Look at the careful choice of words! Nobody is challenging al-Qaa’idah; rather, they want a further explanation of Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri’s words because they disagree with it. There are no hot debates on the forums nor any in-fighting between the “Radical” Muslims. The brothers on this blog happen to belong to these same forums and there is no such activity. Rather, there is an attempt to make it seem there is division or try to create a division which did not exist in the first place. They want for instance, a Salafi Jihaadee sister to look at this news item and think to herself, “I am against Zawahiri’s views!! This is against Islaam!! We must challenge him!!” Our sisters are more intelligent than this, walhamdullilaah.
| Quote: | | In response to a female questioner, al-Qaida No. 2 leader Ayman Al-Zawahri said in April that the terrorist group does not have women. A woman’s role, he said on the Internet audio recording, is limited to caring for the homes and children of al-Qaida fighters. |
Subhaan’Allaah, again, look at the careful choice of words. There’s a difference between placing a limitation upon the role of women in Jihaad versus showing the greater needs of the time which will benefit the future generations to come.
Let’s be just, unlike the media, and quote Zawahiri in full:
| Quote: | Question: Who is the highest-ranked woman in al-Qaa’idah? You don’t have to state names, but what are their positions in the Organization?
Answer: “There are no women in the Qaa’idatul Jihaad Organization, but the wives of the Mujaahideen play a heroic role in managing their homes and sons despite the hardships of immigration, moving from place to place, fighting, and expecting the strikes of the crusaders. But the crusaders - who claim [they are] defending freedom and human rights - openly have struck women, children and civilians during their wars in ‘Iraaq, Afghanistan, Chechnya, and Palestine, in order to force the fighters to retreat or surrender. This is their typical behavior during their wars. Later, after they destroy villages and houses, they say that the Mujaahideen are the ones who are responsible, because they have hidden among civilians. These crimes will not go unpunished, inshaa’Allaah.” |
So where does Zawahiri limit the role of the women to simple housewives?
Nay, rather we see Zawahiri showing the great importance that the women must play; a role so important that if they were to abandon it, nobody would be able to take up such noble positions, and it would lead to great devastation amongst the Mujaahideen. The wives of the Mujaahideen play a major role in bringing up future Mujaahideen, maintaining the family strength during the hardships of Hijrah and absence of the husband during Jihaad.
Zawahiri is not saying here that it is not permissible for women to fight; rather, he is simply stating that they don’t have positions for women in the movement and it could be due to a variety of reasons; one of which is that the movement is a movement of constant mobility. There could also be some security reasons which he didn’t detail on purpose. The movement itself is not where the success lies; rather, the success lies in the Muslims themselves and what they can do to help strengthen Islaam today since the movement is only a small part of the larger movement, the Ummah of Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alayhi wassallam.
As for the sisters mentioned in the article, we hope they realize that.
So what an ugly attempt by the Kaafir media to, once again, tarnish the image of the Mujaahideen for their Crusader agenda against Islaam.
And all the praises and thanks is to Allah alone |
